All Year Use
Mallorca had been our regular family holiday destination for years. We particularly enjoyed an east coast resort and we usually rented a villa as we often holidayed there with friends and their children.
The growth of ‘no frills’ scheduled flights from Liverpool airport were increasingly making Mallorca a very affordable weekend destination and as we had often talked about having a holiday home, we thought why not buy one in the sun? So we started looking around. Naturally our first thought was to look at villas where we had previously stayed as we knew the place well and felt at home there.
We found looking for property at arms length very time consuming - something we have very little of running our own business in Manchester. Our time really was at a premium, so we were delighted when we came across Shortcuts as we were searching the Internet for information from an endless string of estate agents and developers.
After looking through the Shortcuts site we emailed them and then we registered. We talked through our requirements and how we were intending to use our holiday home, making frequent visits all year round and our children using it with their friends.
As our discussions unfolded, it became obvious that we had not seen a fundamental flaw in our thinking at that stage. Some resorts close for the winter season and it can feel deserted - hard to believe if you’ve only ever been in the summer as we had - and whilst we enjoy a relaxed atmosphere we didn’t want to be in a ghost town in February.
Shortcuts recommended that we think about looking closer to Palma and as our time is so limited, to consider an apartment or penthouse which would require little or no attention from us. We like our privacy and being outdoors and having a completely private terrace where we could barbecue all year round immediately struck a chord and had instant appeal to all the family.
We then visited several areas closer to Palma that Andy recommended and we adored Bendinat and Portals, but really fell in love with Puerto Andratx. The motorway access from Palma is excellent, meaning we can be settling down to a chilled glass of wine at lunchtime, having left Liverpool airport that morning. Perfect!
We simply could not have achieved our dream without Shortcuts - we would still probably be surfing the Internet or driving in circles around the island renting expensive villas. Shortcuts short-listed a number of properties, saving us an enormous amount of hassle and time. So much so we were able to choose our piece of holiday heaven in one day of viewing.
Now our friends have registered with Shortcuts having seen how painless the whole process was, so we are looking forward to many more visits to the island, with friends close by.
